The Browns were led by quarterback Deshaun Watson, who threw for 172 yards and a touchdown. However, Watson was also sacked five times and threw two interceptions. Wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones had 64 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Texans scored the game's first touchdown on a 1-yard run by Pierce in the first quarter. The Browns answered back with a 23-yard field goal by Cade York in the second quarter, but the Texans extended their lead to 14-3 with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Stroud to Cooper. The Browns cut the lead to 14-10 with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Watson to Peoples-Jones in the third quarter, but the Texans scored the next 31 points to put the game out of reach. Stroud threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, a 10-yarder to Donovan Wilson and a 14-yarder to Nico Collins. Pierce added a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. With the win, the Texans advanced to the Divisional Round, where they will face the Kansas City Chiefs. The Browns were eliminated from the playoffs with the loss.
